Q11. Case Study: Scale Models

A scale drawing of an object is the same shape as the object but a different size. The scale of a drawing is a comparison of the length used on a drawing to the length it represents.

(i) If a model of a building is made on a scale of 1:50, and the height of the model is 20 cm, find the actual height of the building.

(ii) If the actual length of a room is 10 m and in the drawing it is 5 cm, what is the scale used?

(iii) Two similar triangles have a scale factor of 3:5. If the area of the smaller triangle is 81 sq cm, find the area of the larger triangle.
